There is so much conflicting information out there regarding what works and what doesn’t when it comes to losing weight. Most people think just by replacing their favorite snacks with ‘low fat’ alternatives that is enough to help them lose fat, and then get frustrated with the scales don’t budge.
So I’m going to break it to you gently: low fat foods will NOT help you to lose weight. If they did then we wouldn’t have such a problem with obesity today. Studies show that people are getting fatter and the only people that are benefiting are the marketing and product companies of the low fat foods.
It’s not fair I know. It’s one of the biggest myths about diet and healthy eating.
So what about low calorie diets, are they any better? Unfortunately no. This is another myth about how to lose weight. The reason for this is low calorie diets actually slow down your metabolism making it harder for you to drop those pounds. It’s like putting on the brakes of your fat burning capabilities.
These two types of diets can actually cause you to put on more weight in the long term. The reason people are sucked in by these types of diets is because you actually will lose weight in the first few weeks, then you’ll hit a plateau and the scales don’t seem to budge anymore after that.
You’ll get frustated, go off the diet, start to eat normally and put all the weight back on and often times more. So what can you do? Well your first step is to choose a diet and exercise plan that actually works long term, like this one here.
