Losing weight is never easy, and when you are starting out it’s a good idea to get some weight loss help. That could mean personal support from your friends and family, professional support from a weight loss centre, or online help with diet and exercise advice.
This blog post will go over some of the best ways to lose weight when you don’t know where to start.
You first step to losing weight is to have a look where you are starting from. You might have 10 pounds to lose or you might have 100 pounds or more. This is important because it’s unrealistic for someone with a lot of weight to lose to follow the same plan as someone who only has a few pounds to shift. Each will need different weight loss help if they plan to succeed.
Let’s look at both scenarios in more detail:
If you have less than 15 pounds to lose:
If you only have a bit of weight to get to your ideal size then the good news is that it can be done quite easily, even if you are currently in a plateau.
If you are already a dieter and exerciser then it’s time to go over your current routine and see if there are any tweaks that you can make. Perhaps it’s just a case of training with more intensity or cutting back on that extra soda. Meal replacement’s can also be good to shift those last few fat pounds.
You might want to switch your exercise around too – if you currently are a cardio girl try adding some strength training, or use the spin bike instead of the treadmill. Tiny changes can lead to big results.
If you are not a dieter or exerciser then it’s time to cut back on the calories and start burning some fat at the gym. If you are not an gym kind of girl then order an exercise video or two online and commit to doing a session at least 3 times a week.
Swap fatty snacks to healthy ones. Carrot sticks with hummus is delicious, or cut an apple in wedges and serve with low fat cheese. You’ll be getting the crunch without all the calories and the weight will drop off as well.
If you have more weight to lose:
You may need some weight loss help if you have more weight to lose. Even something as simple as exercising with a friend can help your goal to be slim. Studies have shown that if you’re accountable – that is if someone else knows about your weight loss efforts – then you will lose more pounds than if you go it alone.
If you have no one to be your buddy then consider joining a gym, getting a personal trainer, or joining a weight loss club like Jenny Craig or Weight Watchers. All of these will help you to lose weight quicker than if you tried doing it all by yourself.
It’s also worth talking over your plans with your doctor to make sure that whatever plan you choose will be safe and healthy for you.
